For thousands of years, humans ate fruits and vegetables from soil rich in life-sustaining bacterial organisms. But after World War II, in our quest to relinquish unwanted disease-causing pathogens, chemicals and pesticides were introduced to agriculture as well as chlorination for water treatment. As a result, most beneficial bacteria were eliminated along with the harmful ones.
Modern lifestyles contribute greatly to critical gastrointestinal disruption. Antibiotics, excess sugar and alcohol, carbonated beverages, chemical food additives, and over-the-counter drugs can alter the acid/alkaline balance of the intestinal tract, often killing beneficial bacteria and creating the perfect environment for harmful microbes to grow. Without the “good” or “friendly” bacteria to keep them in check, these “bad” bacteria can eventually overrun our body and severely depress our immune system.
We should have a balance of about 85 percent good to 15 percent harmful organisms in the intestinal tract. But most of us today have the opposite ratio, creating a chronically unhealthy condition.
Nutritional researchers are convinced that almost 90 percent of known diseases may be caused by these gastrointestinal imbalances. When toxins are dispersed through the bloodstream, a precondition of “intestinal toxemia” (poisoning by harmful gut bacteria) occurs.
As far back as 1928, H.H. Booker, D.C., remarked, “It is now universally conceded that auto-intoxication is the underlying cause of an exceptionally large group of symptom complexes.”

- Overeating
- Drinking fluoridated and/or chlorinated water. Chlorine not only kills the bad bacteria in your drinking water, but also the good bacteria in your digestive tract.
- Alcohol, coffee, tobacco, recreational drugs
- Improper food handling, food storage
- Unclean food
- Non-organic food
- Poor genetics / weak organs
- pH imbalance (the main facilitator to chronic illness and premature death)
- World travel. This can cause harmful microorganisms to mutate into even deadlier strains at an extremely fast rate.
- Radiation for cancer therapy kills all your friendly microorganisms and severely compromises your immune system in the process.
- Biological Warfare a.k.a. "Germ Warfare" - the new destination of choice for those at war.
